kiengkham's korner: souwan's als ice bucket challenge

Souwan completed the ALS ice bucket challenge. The challenge is to promote awareness and encourage donation for the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) aka Lou Gehrig's. The disease causes a person to have trouble speaking, swallowing, and breathing. After you accept the challenge of dumping ice water on yourself, you then nominate some of your friends to do the same on a video post. You can watch Souwan's on his facebook post.      I was asked by my niece how I use coupons. So here is your answer!   1. Get the Sunday paper and get your inserts from Smart Source, P & G, Red Plum. Sometimes there will be 2 or 5 inserts!   2. I go online to research deals at the grocery store and match up my coupons. Couponmom.com is a great resource. She tells you the item for sale and the coupon to use to get savings. See the picture below.  Make sure to go under the state you are living in.   3. Go shopping and have fun seeing the total price decline!

kiengkham's korner: souwan at linkin park concert

Souwan enjoyed a concert night with his friend CJ. They went to the Linkin Park Concert. The opening acts were 30 seconds to mars and AFI. This was Souwan's first rock concert and he had a blast. He took a couple of photos with his phone.     Souwan had the guys over for a poker night. My cousin Som had a lucky night!   In my corner of the world... This has nothing to do with our week. I found this handsome guy's picture from our Childress Vineyard date last month. And i'm just admiring him.       I'm sorry for not blogging as much. It's been a crazy week. I have been working overtime. I hope to get back to it next week with new outfit posts.   This weeks coupon results: before coupons $33.39 and after coupons $5.05!     After spending some time with Souwan's mom, I was inspired to make this sweet and spicy pan fried tilapia dish.   Our friend Marie gave us green tomatoes from her garden. Souwan does not like t

summer recap

In May, we started the summer off to a great start. Souwan and I did a lot of yard work. We added tons of mulch, planted flowers and started a vegetable garden.   We attended  a great Kentucky Derby party at the Kilted Buffalo.   Souwan and I got out to the lake to watch the Dragon Boat Festival.   Then, we traveled out to the coast for my cousin Tom's graduation at East Carolina University.       In June, we celebrated our first anniversary as husband and wife at the beach. We enjoyed boardwalk at the beach, swimming and the sun time.   Souwan had a blast at the car show in our downtown.   Our friend Allison treated us to ice cream at her favorite new shop.   Our garden vegetables were growing very nicely in June. Our first garden did great! Can't wait to plant more vegetables for the fall.     We're wrapping up our summer in July. It's not over yet! We celebrated fourth of July with huge fireworks put on by our friend

kiengkham's korner: save $160!

We had a low key week. After travelling to Alabama we wanted to stay around the house. Souwan and I did a major coupon shopping haul this week with all of our extra time. There was yard work, gardening, cleaning, laundry, unpacking, church and grocery shopping. Side note, we had a fun lunch with the pastor, his wife and some other church family at Cracker Barrel. We were able to purchase a lot of items this weekend. Our biggest haul to date. Before coupons we spent $182.57 and after coupons we spent $15.57! I can feel us reaching our goal. We have been saving for a heat pump and a trip to Disney World.   Our garden is doing good. We used some basil and cilantro for my Pho.     Souwan wanted pho this week. I think I could live off this noodle soup! We used a lot of veggies from our garden for garnish. The jalopenos are from my friend's garden. Yummy!   Souwan made a broccoli casserole.     I made siracha chicken and cucumber salad (mixed with
