Kiengkham's Korner: Valentine's Day 2015

This year for Valentine's Day we had a full week of dates. Souwan and I went on a date to the Japanese Steakhouse for some steak and chicken dinner. We usually go on a date each week. It was a great time. I had not been there in a long time and forgot how entertaining it was to watch the chef's make our dinner. I enjoyed the onion volcano, a picture is below.     Souwan has a sweet tooth and Valentine's day was his excuse to eat lots of chocolate and cupcakes. I helped make the cupcakes, but morning sickness didn't allow me to finish. LOL.     I loved our fondue date. We dipped all of these fruits into various chocolates.     Souwan surprised me with Swarovski crystal jewelry. I was very shocked and loved it!     We went out to dinner with family and friends for a Valentine's party at a Thai sushi and bar restaurant. I thought it was nice to spend Valentine's Day not just with my husband, but with family and friends.

kiengkham's korner: snowed in!

1- Our town got 13 inches of snow and a snow day to play. My husband and I built a snowman and woman, drank hot coco and watched our neighbors revel in the snow. Souwan had snow cream for the first time too. The snow days are over for us, but we loved playing in it. 2- My husband and I had a lovely Valentine's day. To us it's about celebrating everything about love rather than just the two of us. I gave Valentine gifts to my friends and family along with messages to remind them I love them. Even with the snow my husband brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers! I cooked him a special candle light dinner for Valentine's day. Lastly, Valentine's day was filled with snow and love this year. 3- After watching the Olympics, my husband and I went Ice skating on Saturday. It has been some time since we skated. There were moments where I almost took my husband down! Thankfully, we had some team work on the ice. Ice skating was fun and we will have to go again next year.

friday favorites

Happy Friday all! As I'm writing this, I am watching the Opening Ceremony for the winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Quite the spectacle! Go USA!! I have a fun filled weekend ahead. My friends from college are visiting! I cannot wait to see them. It's always a great time hanging with them. After you graduate college, it can be difficult to come together with everyone's busy schedule. I will definitely have some memorable photos to post soon from our weekend together. Anyways, enough with my excitement and babble over weekend plans. Valentine's day is approaching and today's favorites are inspired by V-Day. Check them out below! Favorite dessert: These heart cupcakes look delicious! Favorite lunch date: Why not celebrate with your closest girlfriends?!  Favorite gift idea: These instagram love notes are so precious! valentine's day and vanishing snow

My mom's tulips are in full bloom. I was surprised to see some purple tint with the pink tulips. Fat Tuesday was this past Tuesday. It's the start of lent, giving or pledging something until Easter. It's much like a new year's resolution. Eating pancakes is part of fat tuesday (pancake tuesday) to start off lent and means eating rich for the last night before fasting. Souwan and I made pancakes together. Since we didn't get off work in time for church, this would suffice. Valentine's day is not a huge celebration in our home. We don't give much gifts, other than my mom's flowers (which has been a tradition since I was a child). Souwan and I started dating in college; with little money we started our own tradition with making thoughtful cards. This year, I did ask for some chocolate and Souwan got me three different kinds. My favorite is the Rocher. It's nutty goodness! We also enjoyed a sushi (takeout) dinner together before watching idol a
