outfit of the day: plaid about you

what i wore: gifted cardigan, ann taylor blouse, thrifted plaid skirt, n/a leggings, rack room brown boots, dooney and bourke purse (thrifted!) Plaid is one of my favorite patterns to wear. If I could have a plaid item in every color it would be a dream come true! I love gingam, which I think is in the same family. It never fades. Plaid has come back on suits, blazers, coats and more. It can be transformed from dressy to casual. Plaid is now fashionable rather than being just a lumber jack everyday wear! Would you wear plaid? Thanks for reading! xoxo Lisa

weekly wrap up: goodbyes and birthdays

Before the nasty ice storm hit our area, I bravely went out into the icey weather. I picked up a cake for my co-worker/friend Kyle. We learned earlier in the week he has bieber fever after watching his televised movie. I have not seen it, but Kyle says good things about it. Ha! The ice started pouring down on my way into work and got worst into the day. We got less than an inch of ice, but driving on it was very tricky. I was able to leave work early. I had learned earlier in the week that my Great Uncle Ny had passed. It was a very sad moment for me. I remember the stories of how much he picked on me. He had a sense of humor that I will never forget. I know his laugh, it's engraved into my memory. His son and daughter look so much like him. It was comforting. "He lived a long and happy life", his son said to all of his family and friends who attended the funeral. His son could not hold in his sadness and neither could we. As our uncle cried, we did as well. He

outfit of the day: what a peach

what i wore: forever 21 dress, H&M cardigan, thrift gold belt, payless wedge shoes I wore this look to church Sunday where we had a meeting with our Pastor and a quick trip around the local park. We talked about our upcoming wedding with the Pastor. She is an amazing Pastor and we are so blessed to have her! Souwan and I are very excited she will be marrying us in June. We did premarital talk and she gave us some of our own homework. Which I have finished! Souwan and I learned more things about each other all thanks to our pastor! Who knew?! Reach out to those who have been on your mind! They may need you. Thank you for reading! Have a wonderful day! xoxo, Lisa

Weekend wrap up: winter flurries

Thursday we got a winter mix here! Some even got thunder snow. Snow and sleet covered the yard. However, in the morning it all melted away. I got to have a not so fun drive on black ice in to work. We got out of the house on Saturday and went to local thrift stores. I was hoping to find more house items. Instead I got really lucky and found this dooney and bourke handbag! I'm in love with it. It was a steal at only $10 bucks! Coming soon in my ootd post!  MLK holiday today! " Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.  " Well said Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.!  Don't miss out on any opportunities today! Thanks a bunch for reading. Happy Monday! Xoxo Lisa

outfit of the day: got my stripes

what i wore: abercrombie jacket, gift striped long sleeve shirt, thrifted belt, gift anchor necklace, rue 21 jeans, payless wedges, coach bag I wore this look out to go dress shopping with my mom and aunt. We spent time at a bridal shop browsing mother of the bride dresses. No luck, but a good afternoon spent with my fiance and family. This look was inspired by another blogger J's everyday looks, but with my spin on stripes! It was comfy and chic for me. I was a bit cold though. Maybe a heavier jacket next time! Thanks for reading!

wedding wednesday: projects and emotions

A wedding update! I have been overwhelmed with wedding projects and planning. December was our 6 month mark til the big day. We are excited and anxious for it. I sent out save the dates to our closest family and friends (invites will go out to everyone soon). I'm getting great responses from my soon to be family and family. The save the dates were one of the many projects I had to complete. I'll be honest this past month it has been tense and full of emotions. Plenty of happy and stressed moments. Our 6th month mark we have completed many of our "to dos": Bridesmaids Dresses. Have been picked! I'm very happy this was one of the easiest. Hopefully all the girls look good and feel good! Our engagement photos were fun and funny. Souwan and I are not photogenic. We feel pretty awkward cuddling and kissing for the camera. I think we got some great laughs. We reserved our baker for our wedding cake,  Karen Pharr of Karen's Cakes and Cafe Pharr. That was so

happy belated new year!

Hope everyone had a great new year's eve and a lucky, happy 2013! Our new year's eve consisted of eating finger foods, playing a fun game of poker, and having some mixed drinks/champagne with our family and friends. It was a pretty good one! Here are the photos from our NYE.
