3rd Annual Dragon Boat Festival at High Rock Lake

The boat race was earlier this month. It's been quite crazy around here this month. We had the boat race, Haylee's birthday, family visiting and a beach trip coming. It's been a great/busy month.   This is the 3rd annual boat race, however it was our first time. We had a great time out on the lake. It was very hot, but we had a tent set up, fans and lots of refreshments! Haylee really enjoyed it and had fun with everyone! My husband was in the race and I was a happy cheerleader! They got 2nd place and the corporate health cup.   I hope we get to attend this again in the future, enjoy the photos!

kiengkham's korner: dragon boat festival

My husband and some cousins went to the dragon boat festival at Lake Norman. We enjoyed prizes given out by vendors showcasing the many different Asian cultures. The best food to get at the festival is my Uncle No's teriyaki chicken kabobs. The line was wrapped around and we waited 30 minutes, but worth it! The pageant and fashion show are beautiful to watch. They look like royalty! This year I enjoyed watching the Karate show. The kids are very talented and I would not want to mess with any of them. It was a beautiful day at the lake for racing. I can never stay long enough to see the winners, but it was very competitive out there! I had fun hanging out with my family at the festival. It's annual, so go check it out next year!

asian festival 2011

It is off of Lake Norman in North Carolina. This is an annual event that encoporates the many countries of Asia. Each country showcases their culture with informational booths and food stands. One of my favorite parts of the festival is watching the dragon boat race on the lake. Companies {Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Food Lion, & Natural Piedmont Gas} from all over the area take part as teams to compete against others. After watching the boat race vendors will open their stands ready to serve lunch. There was food from Thailand, Laos, Phillipines, and Korea. We had a bite to eat from Laos and Phillipines. Some of our family members were working their tushes off at the Laos food stand. Their stand had a long line that lasted all day. A great day for them! Then we headed to learn abou...
