kiengkham's korner: weekly photos

My husband purchased a new toy again. He purchased a gas cultivator/tiller. He tried to till the garden by hand for 20 minutes but saw little progress. We decided to go ahead with purchasing a gas tiller. It worked faster and was a lot easier for my husband. This was something we talked about purchasing for some time and we decided not to wait. We made a much larger garden this year. My husband and I learned a lot from our small garden last year and wanted to try a bigger project. I planted the corn Souwan's mom gave us, sun flowers, string beans, squash, cabbage and lettuce. I was tired and so very sore! I had to let Souwan handle the rest of the garden. A bigger project is a lot more work! I hope it will be very rewarding and we will see lots of delicious veggies!   I am planting the corn seeds Souwan's mom gave us here.     Our yard is looking good for the Spring. I love our yard this time of year! It looks it's best. I get a lot of...

kiengkham's korner: berry sweet baptisim

(Souwan's the blog title master lol) My cousin's were baptized this past weekend. We celebrated with family and friends. My uncle has a huge garden and we picked a bag full of blueberries and blackberries. I saw a few black eyed Susan's and they are so pretty. Souwan just planted some in our yard and expect them to bloom in the fall. Our couponing stock pile continues. We're working towards saving for our heat pump and a trip to Disney World with our family next year! I have two week's worth to share.   Before coupons = $76.47 After coupons = $ 24.78 Savings of $51.69!   Our garden continues to grow. We are waiting on our watermelons and there are new cucumbers growing. We picked the basil, peppers and tomatoes. Souwan and I have made several of our favorite dishes and snacks with our vegetables.    Noodle Stir fry     Grilled chicken and Asian style Cole slaw   ...

Kiengkham's Korner: scrumptious coconut cake!

My girlfriend shared her grandma's coconut cake and we made a pretty scrumptious one! It's a heart attack waiting to happen kind of cake, but it's so good! I'm definitely going to make it again. Our coupon haul is smaller this week. Before coupons = $32.05 After coupons = $7.72! More savings for our heat pump and Disney 2015 trip! Last year I learned to sew a few things. I have a break for the fourth of July so I'm working on more sewing projects. This week's garden update. We got to pick our Jalapeños and added it to our chili dinner and had it in our chicken salad sandwich for lunch. We also picked the string beans. I am going to use them in my Thai salad for the fourth of July with my family. Our gladiolus flowers are blooming so beautifully, they give our yard a tropical look. I'm loving it!
