kiengkham's korner: souwan's dislike of tomatoes

Souwan and I went to the Farmer's Market and watched the Market Chef. It's inspired by the food network's Iron chef and chopped. We love these shows! It was a blast watching these teams run around the market for fresh vegetables, fruits and meat to cook in a time limit. They had to be very creative and talented for this! Both teams were great making dishes from unknown ingredients. We went to church for dinner and to welcome our new pastor and his family to our church. I loved the tomato sandwiches, however Souwan was not a big tomato fan. I give him credit for trying something new. His tomato sandwich consisted of one piece of tomato (the size of a quarter) on his sandwich. It was great meeting the new pastor and I am excited for the new beginning. His sermon was inspiring on Sunday.  Pssssst, come check us out at Coburn Memorial United Methodist church! (souwan's tomato sandwich picture credit to Dee, thanks Dee! so funny!) ...

first home: garden update 6/10 -6/21

Our garden from June 10- June 21st. I know I say this every time, but our garden has grown so much! We were able to pick the cilantro and make one of my favorite hot chili sauce for chicken. Our summer lily and gladiolus have bloomed for the summer. We picked our lettuces and made salad for dinner too. Our Thai peppers, jalapeño, yellow pepper are looking beautiful. We have eight watermelons growing too! Souwan and I were able to pick the squash and zucchini and made a vegetable stir fry with them.  We have made lemonade garnished with mint for a delicious summer drink. It was very refreshing! Check back next week for another update, our garden continues to grow so fast. I can't wait to have peppers and watermelon soon!   Thanks for reading friends!

Kiengkham's Korner: fascination with the derby and a garden

My husband and I attended a derby party. I love dressing up for the derby! I had so much fun at the party. It is a fun experience bidding on a horse (or watching the bidding). It can get intense!     Of course the week could not go by without us in the garden. I took more photos of the garden. Last time I did not have enough time. I've added more vegetables to the mix! My mom gave us mint, onions and string beans to add. She also gave me peppers which are doing great!   My Easter Lily. This is part of my inside collection of flowers. Dill Bell Pepper Lettuce Thai Basil Thai hot peppers Lemon Basil My mom's thai hot peppers My pink climbing roses. They have grown/bloomed so fast! What a big difference in a week. The first photo was taken on March 28th and the second photo was taken on April 3rd. Mint. This was also transferred from my mom's garden.
