katana a japanese fusion restaurant

I have been wanting a good sushi place to enjoy since moving back home. In college my friends and I had so many lunches and dinners at Rusan's {a sushi place in Charlotte, NC}. The best sushi in Charlotte, NC!! Also it was very affordable for a broke college student. $1 sushi rolls! Can you beat that?! In my hometown they have opened a Japanese fusion place. The sushi bar is all that matters to me. This made me so happy. On Friday, Souwan and I tried it on opening weekend. The place was very packed with people. Maybe not a wise choice. After sitting at the sushi bar, we ordered Katana's chicken. Katana's chicken is like terriyaki chicken, but instead with Katana's sauce. They did have regular terriyaki too. We wanted to try something new. I thought the chicken had good flavor and it came out promptly. Souwan and I also ordered sushi. The sushi rolls we tried: mango, kiddie {just cream cheese}, California, & Philly. The menu for sushi was very basic and not ori...

asian festival 2011

The month of May is Asian history month. In celebration of Asian culture, Food Lion hosted the Asian Festival 2011 at Ramsey park on Saturday. It is off of Lake Norman in North Carolina. This is an annual event that encoporates the many countries of Asia. Each country showcases their culture with informational booths and food stands. One of my favorite parts of the festival is watching the dragon boat race on the lake. Companies {Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Food Lion, & Natural Piedmont Gas} from all over the area take part as teams to compete against others. After watching the boat race vendors will open their stands ready to serve lunch. There was food from Thailand, Laos, Phillipines, and Korea. We had a bite to eat from Laos and Phillipines. Some of our family members were working their tushes off at the Laos food stand. Their stand had a long line that lasted all day. A great day for them! Then we headed to learn abou...

my Easter baskets

Last year I bought Easter baskets for Na and Malee {little cousins}. This year I decided to put together my own. It can be tough to make one, not knowing where to start. Here is what I have done for the girls baskets. Also I made one for an event to raise money aiding Japan. I started with: I played around with the arrangement of the items in the basket. Final products! Basket for Japan. I hope it raises a lot! In this basket: Disney painting, Peeps treats, planting pot with flower seeds, Eggs with candy. Adult Easter basket for Japan too! Golf stuff for the boys. I did not make this, but found it for a really awesome deal! Happy Good Friday & Easter!
