kiengkham's korner: paradise ice

Our friend Allison took us to one of her favorite spots for Ice cream. I enjoyed this little paradise and the tropical treats were delicious. I had the pina colada paradise ice and it was perfect for the humid day. The atmosphere is very tropical and can definitely take you away for a bit.   My husband, friend and I had a day of arts and crafts. We went to the thrift store and dollar store to pick up pieces for our projects. Allison and I made a jewelry stand using plates, candle sticks, wine glasses, stickers and paint. My husband Souwan made a drink holder using old wood holder with a sand dollar and some paint. It was so much fun using our creative side to create these fun projects. Since it was summer we decided to go with a beach theme. Souwan's project is not finished yet, but i'll post a final photo when it is done.     I'm very excited to share more of our couponing pile. I have been behind on posting for the past two weeks. W...

Kiengkham's Korner: stand by me

This weekend my husband and I visited with our college friends. We had an Asian themed potluck and spent the day at two local vineyards. The two vineyards were: Old Stone and Uwharrie. It's been 10 years of friendship. The most memorable time of my life. The best friends a girl would ever have! Some incredible moments happened with these people. God blessed me with them for my difficult and happy moments. They have seen Souwan and I from the beginning. The best friends who tolerated my tipsy antics. The interrupted dorm nights running amuck. The days we spent at school competitions. The nights studying endlessly. Ahem, "studying" nights that may have turned to nights on Myspace and AOL. If you were my professor, (and reading this) then we absolutely were not on Myspace! The nights celebrating and laughing perpetually. They are the friend's who know me, but still love me after 10 years. After 10 years on...

farmer's day 2013

My husband, myself, cousin Kit and Serena ventured out into the hot weather on Saturday to Farmer's day. Much like a farmer's market, but with more vendors and people. We enjoyed home made strawberry ice cream and Muscadine slushie in this warm weather. Muscadine is widely grown in the southern states of the U.S. It is a type of berry and can be eaten raw or made into wine. I love Muscadine wine. I ran into a vendor who made home made hot salsa from Wilmington area. I got a jar of his salsa. I'm excited to have some with tortilla chips. A lot of vendors had homemade crafts and food to sale. My cousin Noah and his family/girlfriend were out at a stand making their awesome chicken kabobs on this day. Vintage cars and tractors were on display, and my cousin Kit enjoyed the oversized tractors and vintage ambulance. Bands and clowns making balloons were set up for family entertainment. A great family time!
