wedding wednesday: what to wear to an engagement session

Hi Ya'll! It's a new month and a new wedding Wednesday! It's my favorite time!!! Today I'm showing ya'll what to wear to an engagement session. I get this question a lot. I'll be honest, I'm not into the latest fashion trends. I love shopping, but I usually go for more comfort pieces than what's hot off the runway. So if you are cool with that and a semi trendy outfit then stick around. I'm excited because my husband is modeling for me. He is the most supportive hubby. I love him to pieces. Let's get started! At an engagement session it's a time to get to know your photographer and get comfortable in front of the camera. I tell everyone that you want to have an engagement session to get comfortable posing. It's awkward for everyone the first time and you don't want to have that awkward moment on the special day. At an engagement session it's best to do a couple of looks. Go for a dressed up look and then a casual look. You sh...

wedding wednesday: simple floral centerpieces

Hi Ya'll! It's a new month and a new wedding Wednesday! It's my favorite time!!! Today I'm showing ya'll simple floral centerpieces. It's weird because I just had a meeting with one of my brides where we talked about ideas for centerpieces. I think this is the perfect topic for wedding Wednesday! Also, I'm not a professional florist by any means. Florists do a wonderful job creating magnificent arrangements and are total artists!!! Every bride has different budgets and where they choose to spend for their special day. Some brides splurge on centerpieces, but some brides may opt to splurge on photography. So, if you don't want to splurge on centerpieces and want something sweet and simple stick around! These flowers are from my back yard! I love flowers! Having fresh florals all over the home is my favorite décor. However, you can go to the supermarket and pick up some fresh florals too! I had so much fun playing with these floral arrangements. It...

Hi Friend! Welcome to my Wedding Wednesday posts! Here I discuss everything about weddings and help answer questions. Weddings can be overwhelming! There are so many things to plan and so many vendors to choose from. So here on Davong Marie, I hope to give you advice and a peace of mind. Call me weird but I adore weddings, every detail. So let's go! This post we're discussing honeymoons!!! Where to stay Let's be real. This is the best part besides being married to the best man/woman ever! I was a bride, I know! The first question you run into is "Where do we go?". Then, some of you are like any where there is a beach and sun! Yea! Ha! There are many options, but which is your honeymoon destination? First, discuss with your fiancé where you would like to stay/sleep. A bed perhaps is a good start. Maybe a bed and breakfast, an inn, luxury hotel, or a relaxing resort. It all depends on the experience you want. Stuff to do That brings me to my seco...

wedding wednesday: family photos

It's important to get family and friends in photos for your big day! You'll want to remember it. Get plenty of photos of them during portraits, during the ceremony (you know they are the ones crying in the corner because they are so happy for you both), and during the reception. Who doesn't want photos of friends and family at the biggest epic celebration! I love capturing family and friends on the big day because they mean so much to the couple. They support and care the most for those two love birds. I love seeing family that are there for the bride and groom. Their smiles and joy are the most joyful! It makes for wonderful memories. Years from now the bride and groom will look back at the family and friends. These photos and smiles during these moments with them is just too precious! Family and friends have supported your relationship. Siblings are especially important because well they have been your closest friends and probably the ones ...

Friends of the family and older women help me get dressed in traditional Laos wedding attire. The ceremony began with the parade of the groom. His family sang and cheered as he entered our home. The youngest girl of the bride's family sprinkles water over the groom's feet. And the groom is welcomed by the Bride's family.   Our first sight ceremony began with prayers Our parents tie strings that are blessed and give us blessings. The preacher (ma pon- sitting behind us) has us feed eachother boiled egg that represents having eachother come together as one.   Our Laos wedding photo   Our reception was held at the Salisbury depot/historic train station In this collage: we are greeting our guests and getting well wishes (toasting with hennesey), our table décor/centerpieces, the groom's best man gives his speech, we got a warm welcome to the train station, maid of honor gives her speech, we wore our traditional Laos attir...

we're married!

photos by: Amy & Evelyna   I wanted to share a quick post. We said "I do" on Saturday June 8th, after 8 years we are now husband and wife! I wasn't able to take any photos with my phone the day of, but our family and friends shared photos of our day. Thank you all for sharing those. Here is a glimpse of our special day, more photos will be posted later. The best memories of our day was: It rained the whole week of our wedding week, we thought it would be raining on our day. It rained the morning of, but was sunny when our traditional Laos ceremony began. It's good luck when it rains on your day. I'm glad the sun came out and Hurricane Andrea gaves us a break from the rain. The Laos ceremony was beautiful. The older women helped me get dressed in traditional wedding dress.  My uncle led the wedding, we got laughter, cheers, and tears from him and the guests. Our photographer (Aunt Nyvanhn) did an amazing job! She not only too...

wedding wednesday: wolfpack weekend

This weekend the fiance went on his bachelor gateway to Charlottesville, VA. The guys started their weekend off by stopping at a local hot spot called Beer Run for breakfast.  Souwan had the El Bombero Breakfast Burrito with a side of Free Range Bacon and Organic Drip Coffee.  If you are looking for specialty or craft beer and awesome FOOD look no further then Beer Run.  For lunch the guys went to another local favorite gathering place called Bodo's Bagel.  Here Souwan ate Pastrami with Lettuce, Mayo, Avocado and Provolone Cheese on an Everything Bagel with a Cesar Side Salad.  They have the BEST bagels here! Better than Eintstein.  Dinner was at home with a surf and turf menu.  After breakfast at Beer Run, the guys took a detour through the Shenandoah National Park to take in the breathtaking view and fresh air. First stop on the winery and brewery tour was Veritas Vineyard & Winery.  Veritas allows you to tak...
