kiengkham's korner: weekly photos

My husband purchased a new toy again. He purchased a gas cultivator/tiller. He tried to till the garden by hand for 20 minutes but saw little progress. We decided to go ahead with purchasing a gas tiller. It worked faster and was a lot easier for my husband. This was something we talked about purchasing for some time and we decided not to wait. We made a much larger garden this year. My husband and I learned a lot from our small garden last year and wanted to try a bigger project. I planted the corn Souwan's mom gave us, sun flowers, string beans, squash, cabbage and lettuce. I was tired and so very sore! I had to let Souwan handle the rest of the garden. A bigger project is a lot more work! I hope it will be very rewarding and we will see lots of delicious veggies!   I am planting the corn seeds Souwan's mom gave us here.     Our yard is looking good for the Spring. I love our yard this time of year! It looks it's best. I get a lot of...

Kiengkham's Korner: weekly photos

Over the weekend it was a yard project type of weekend. Souwan woke up early on Saturday with our neighbor to cut down a tree. Don't worry it was far from anyone's home! haha! I didn't capture the tree coming down because the baby and I were still asleep. I did wake up to the clean up process and was so proud of my hubby! We got the idea from my aunt and uncle. It'll be a nice setting! We just need some friends and family to come roast some smore's with us.     Later on I joined Souwan out in the yard to spread the mulch. This year we got bags from Home Depot. Approx 35 bags of mulch! I think the mulch adds a great curb appeal.     Some of my flowers are coming back!     We bought more flowers for the porch and flower beds in ...

Kiengkham's Korner: girly flowers vs manly flowers

This week (almost everyday) we are working on our yard. It's our first home and we are so excited for Spring time here at the Kiengkham's. Picking out flowers and plants has been a real fun experience. Souwan and I have different taste for flowers. I love bright "girly" flowers. It took sometime, but we have compromised. I get my pink flowers! Okay maybe he just went with "happy wife, happy life" to help with decisions. He did get a bird bath, or more like bird trap. Souwan hates birds, but wants a perfect shot at them. So he says. And he is getting a front pathway! Our yard is coming together and looking great for Spring. Stay tuned for more home posts this week.   These purple flowers are looking beautiful. I opted for these flowers, but in white.   We have been searching for plants to put on the front porch. We chose bright colorful petunias and a type of evergreen plant.   There is a new Ford F250 truck in our family. This is my bro...
