mondays with mark: pretty little liars

My Monday evenings are definitely me watching the new show "Pretty Little Liars". The show is about a group of young girls with scandals, secrets, and lies. This new abc show is definitely a hit! My favorite is Lucy Hale who plays Aria, a girl in love with her English teacher trying to overcome the relationship challenges faced with dating him secretly. {Watch this show on Monday nights on ABC Family at 8pm} My inspiration today is of Lucy Hale from the Teen Choice Awards last year. For the awards, Lucy Hale is wearing Mark makeup. I was very excited to hear this! Lucy is wearing: mark Face Xpert in Golden mark Good Riddance concealer in Light/Medium mark Just Pinched in Peachy Matte-nificent Powder in Natural Buff mark Bronze Pro in Pro Golden Glowdacious Illuminating Powder in Shimmed Up mark Keep It Going Longwear Eyeliner & Shadow Duo in Surreal (Bronze Color) mark I-Mark shadow in Gioia I-Mark eyeshadow in Java  mark Eyemarker pencil in Jet mark Make...

date night: dinner & a movie

Boyfriend and I treated ourselves to take out dinner from Top China. {We had wonton soup and sweet/sour chicken} This restaurant is located in our hometown Salisbury. It was my first job EVER. I was the waitress, cashier, & cook. During my employment it was trial and error with me. This was not a job I was suited for. Anything that could go wrong, DID. My job ended after six months. My old boss still adores me though!  The chinese food is the best in Salisbury. After dinner we watched the movie Gnomeo & Juliet. It is a cute cartoon spin of Shakespere's Romeo & Juliet. The gnomes in the two gardens are rivals and will do anything to protect their beautiful gardens from each other. When a lawn mower threatens and destroys both gardens; Gnomeo and Juliet helps bring the two families to an understanding. This movie is really cute and funny. I love the frog!

Thirsty Thursday "Spring is on my Mind"

What sup guys! Souwan again...You know spring is coming when you wake up, walk outside, and your eyes automatically starts itching or tearing up.  Too bad that doesn't happen to me.  Now all this warm weather made me want something tropical, and Lisa read my mind when she gave me the idea of making "Pina Colada." Ingredients: White Rum Coconut Milk Pineapple Juice and wedge Crushed Ice Put the rum, coconut milk, and pineapple juice/wedge in a blender with some ice and blend until slushy.  Serve with pineapple wedges as garnish.  Enjoy!

morning blues

Blazer: gifted Dress: papaya Necklace: Kohl's shoes: gifted Today was interesting. I got to work late, not because of my usual {I don't want to get up routine, where I kick and whine like a kid}. There were cows on the highway! COWS! Poor things didn't stand a chance against cars and 18 wheelers. When I got to work, my explanation was the cows made me late. Too bad teachers didn't believe me about homework and dogs. Just kidding! I never used THAT excuse. Ha! The boss heard about the cows on the radio. I'm proven innocent. Happy hump day...It's almost the weekend guys!

ohh babies

Last week I had two baby showers to attend in one night. That's impossible! Well the two moms to be were my coworkers. The girls at work teamed up to make the impossible, possible. It was so fun. They {the girls} let me coordinate the games for the shower. I'm going to toot my own horn TOOT because the games were so fun. I'm going to assume that even the boys had a laugh or two with the games. Yes co-ed shower. The mix of boys and girls made it that much more entertaining. We played guess the baby item, word scramble {baby shower theme of course}, and list baby items in one minute. I'm proud to say that a boy won one of the three games. Guessing the baby item was a little too easy for these genius co-workers of mine. They were all winners. The humorous part was seeing their facial expressions! Ha! GOOD TIMES! Congrats to Candace and Katie. We hope that Porter and Brooke will love all of the presents they got. I love baby clothes. They are the cutest thing you could ever...

Just made you want to run around and sing. I'm kidding. I'll save the singing for people who CAN. Speaking of the part in "Sound of the Music" movie where she runs up the hill in a song. Ha!  The tulips I planted last spring are starting to show. SO EXCITED! Tulips are very seasonal. They show their beauty for the Spring and are GONE by Summer. It will soon be getting hot. North Carolina weather is interesting. Its sweltering hot in the day and by night it is chilly. I was outside with shorts and t-shirt and then in the evening i'm wearing a jacket and pants. If you're someone who has allergies. Get...

Thirty Thursday - "Passion"

Hey Guys! Souwan here.  It's that time of the week again...TGIF eve.  In celebration of Valentine's Day I decided to make a "Passion Fruit Margarita."  I wanted an extra kick so I put an extra shot of tequila. How to make a "Passion Fruit Margarita" Ingredients: lime wedge and coarse sea salt, for rimming 1 1/2 measures tequila gold 1 measures Cointreau 1 teaspoon passion fruit syrup 1 measure fresh lime juice flesh and seeds of 1 passion fruit (I couldn't find this so I left it out) ice cubes lime wedges, to decorate Moisten the rim of a margarita glass with lime wedge and dip it in salt.  Put tequila, cointreau, passion fruit syrup, lime juice, and half the passion fruit flesh and seed in a cocktail shaker with ice.  Shake well then strain into margarita glass.  Add the remaining passion fruit flesh and decorate with lime wedge. Enjoy and tell us your experience with this drink.

this valentine's day

Hope all of you had a great V-day.! Souwan & I kept it low key with dinner, and homemade gifts. While in college, we did not have the cash to shower each other with gifts. The boyfriend and I started making home made cards and presents for each other. One year I gave the boyfriend cupcakes and cookies in the valentines theme. Since we graduated and got "adult" jobs we still made home made cards. The card I made this year has the word "love" and is a maze. Can he find the way to my heart? Well he certainly has! I also made a home made gift card for some shoes. He can buy shoes anywhere. Ha! Souwan is in need for some shoes. I really loved Souwan's card. It was VERY creative! Pop-up boy and girl. The boy is giving the girl a heart. HOW AWESOME! It looks just like us. Just kidding. As for the gifts, we did splurge more on them in recent years. The boyfriend and I have not lost sight of the thought behind those gifts. I had been wanting to watch "The ...

Monday's with Mark.: Grey

This look was inspired by Marisa Miller the model at the 2011 Super Bowl parties. I also saw many other celeb ladies out there wearing grey with black eye liner at Hollywood events.Last night at the Grammys I spotted Dianna Agron wearing a grey eyeshadow. In my look I did not use heavy eyeliner, but you can use mark No Place to Run Longwear Eyeliner to make it more thick.  The mark on the dot eye color compact help create my look. My lips are mark Glow Baby Glow Hook Up Lip Gloss in m.powerment Shades in m. powerment peach. If you want to see more look at my other Monday blog where I used this compact to create a grey and orange look. Check out my Mark store for more! Happy Valentines Day!

date night: pork satay w/ peanut sauce and cucumber salad

For date night the boyfriend and I watched the movies " Valentine's Day" and "13 going on 30". Two very chick flicks! Souwan entertained himself with having drinks and dinner. We even had movie popcorn. Yum! Couples can still have a date night in. Find a good movie and some dinner makes for a great night together. I have a collection of chick flicks, a little obsessed. If you don't have a collection get movies from Red Box for $1. I love the dinner part the most. Check out Souwan's entry later this week for what we had to drink on date night! Recipe for pork satay w/ peanut sauce and cucumber salad: what you need 1 pound pork, sliced into strip, wooden sticks, 1/2 cup water {we used coconut milk 3/4, trust me it tastes way better} 3 tbsp vegetable oil  cucumber salad: 2 cucumbers, 5 red onions, 2 red chilli, 4 tbsp vinegar, 6 tbsp sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt Directions: 1. sprinkle contents of packet { satay seasoning mix, which can be found in...

fun foto friday

It's date night so I will keep this entry short. For our anniversary last year Souwan took me to Charleston, South Carolina. This place is so beautiful and is a must visit! Great food and sites to see. Souwan took me to Folly beach {the picture at the top of my blog is a picture of us making a heart around the Morrison light house on that beach }, Battery park, and Waterfront park. There is also alot of history in this town. We are so lucky to live a couple of hours from this place. I am a huge fan of historic places, but no ghost towns please! Happy Friday all!!
