wedding wednesday: wedding venues

Choosing a location is the beginning step for our wedding planning. It's exciting. We have a place and date! Check out some different wedding locations below and our final choice.

Garden wedding.
This is such a romantic and beautiful setting. The fiancee and I actually took a look at a wedding in a garden. However the garden was a long distance.
cost: high -average $500-$2,500

Beach/Destination wedding.
This looks like a lot of fun.
cost: low- destination weddings are low because most likely guest count will be small.

Farm wedding.
This is very rustic and a natural setting.
cost: high-average between $500 -$2,500

Church wedding.
A very traditional and classic wedding.
cost: low

Hotel wedding.
An elegant venue. We considered a couple of hotels nearby. The capacity of the space didnt work with us. I think max was 200.
cost: high -average $500-$2500

Vineyard wedding.
I loved this. Good wine to go around. The fiancee and I had this in our idea book, however the location had strict policies. No outside cater and not any other beverage other than wine(well of course).
cost: high $2,500-$10,000

Vegas wedding.
This type a wedding is just a good party!
cost: low

Country Club wedding.
Very posh and glam setting. We also considered a local country club, but with this also came some obstacles.
cost: high -average cost is between $500-$2500

Backyard wedding.
This is a sweet intimate idea. Not a bad choice if you have a good sized back yard.
cost: low

Park wedding.
This is natural and a beautiful setting.
cost: low -average cost between $15-$250.
Another venue with this low cost would be a restaurant!

Courthouse wedding.
This is very intimate.
cost: low

Historic Train Station.

This is what we chose! This is the place. June 8th 2013!! After choosing this place they had limited dates because spring/summer is a busy season for them with proms and weddings. It being a historic location the cost was more. Average cost of a historic location is between $500-$2500
our cost: high -$1,800+

Remember when choosing your location to ask questions! What amenities (table/chair) are provided, dates available, outside catering, alcohol permission, decor permission,  guest capacity, parking choices, insurance, security guard fees, and more.

  1. Hi Lisa,

I like the idea of having a wedding at a Historic Train Station. Our Union Station has lots of big weddings.

We went for a Historic Country Manor/Mansion with the hand-fasting ceremony taking place outside and the reception inside with food, drinks and live music for dancing. A lot of little expenses added up to a $1500.00 more that we planned...like Somehow the Photo booth got damaged and stuff like that.

I know you will have a wonderful wedding and you are getting off to a great start.HUG!
    Love,Joann

outfit of the day: casual denim shorts and sperry's

what i wore: cynthia rowley tee, american eagle shorts, thrifted belt, juicy couture bracelet, belk's charm bracelet, old navy aviator shades, sperry's top-sider boat shoes. I wore this out for a few errands with the fiance. My car battery needed replacing, I have worn that thing out. Ex. leaving it on while taking naps during lunch. Don't do this ladies. Ha! This look is so comfy and definitely a repeat when I'm running around town.

outfit of the day: classic vest

what i wore: express button up, old navy vest, f21 jeans, gift boots.   Classic pieces stay for a lifetime. I have had this vest for a long time. Traditional yet in style. Not popular, but likable. A little bit of old fashion and tradition may not be popular, may go back "50 years" but this vest seems to never fade out of style for me.

outfit of the day: outdoor fall look

what i wore: gap long sleeve top, target jeggings and boots, belk's bag   I wore this to my cousin's birthday party. It was a lovely fall day, sunny and perfect cool weather for a game of corn hole. We also had lunch and drinks out on their patio. This outfit was great for the outdoor activities and a birthday gathering.     Thank you for reading. Have a lovely rest of the week!
